AlmapBBDO partner and creative director, Marcello Serpa, 40, studied
visual and graphic arts in Germany, where he lived for seven years.
During his time there he worked at the GGK and R.G. Wiesmeir advertising
agencies.
When he returned to Brazil, he held positions at DPZ Rio, DPZ São
Paulo and DM9DDB before joining José Luiz Madeira as a partner
at AlmapBBDO in 1993.
Marcello Serpa is the most-awarded art director in Brazil, with
gold, silver and bronze trophies and medals from the top Brazilian
and international advertising festivals. His 1993 Grand Prix at
the Cannes International Advertising Festival was the first ever
for Latin America.
He was president of the jury for Radio and TV at the Clio Awards
in the United States and he judged non-English language TV and Cinema
commercials at Britain´s D&AD Design and Advertising Festival.
He was the first Latin American to preside over a jury at Cannes.
He was also the youngest. |
